Reinventing Parts Training with Scania UK.
Scania UK operates a £300 million parts business across its dealer network. Recognising the opportunity to modernise its approach to parts training, Scania invested in a program aligned with evolving systems and processes. Previous materials had served their purpose but needed refreshing to keep pace with technological change. Training was often delivered reactively, making consistency a challenge. By introducing a structured, engaging learning pathway, Scania aimed to improve operational efficiency and create new opportunities for customer engagement, empowering teams nationwide with the right skills and knowledge.

Outcomes
The successful launch of 6 Systems & Process Training modules throughout the UK Dealer Network.
The Brief.
Scania UK wanted to create a modern, structured training pathway for its parts teams that complemented the face-to-face learning already in development. The challenge was to design digital eLearning resources that would provide a level playing field for all parts personnel, regardless of experience or location.
Our task was to contextualise complex, nuanced systems and processes into clear, engaging online modules that connected directly to real-world activities.
“These resources needed to fit seamlessly into Scania’s wider training program, ensuring consistency across the network while supporting operational efficiency and customer service .”
Scania’s internal training team had already begun shaping a comprehensive learning pathway for parts personnel, structured across Foundation, Fundamental, and Advanced levels to cover technical and commercial competencies. They needed Autonomy’s support to design and deliver the digital components that would sit within this framework and complement their face-to-face training. Our role was to ensure these eLearning modules provided consistency across the network and translated complex systems and processes into practical, engaging content that connected directly to real-world tasks.
The Solution.
Starting from a blank page, we worked closely with Scania’s subject matter experts to ensure every module reflected real-world challenges and day-to-day tasks. The content was designed to be highly relevant, focusing on practical activities and the systems employees use regularly. To make technical training approachable and engaging, we introduced storytelling elements, character-driven scenarios, and light gamification, creating a narrative that connected learners to the material in a meaningful way.
“By blending storytelling, interactive design, and technical accuracy, we created a solution that complements face-to-face training and gives every parts team member the confidence to perform at their best”
Working in close collaboration, we developed a suite of interactive modules. Each module was designed to translate complex systems and processes into clear, engaging content that connected directly to real-world tasks.
To make the experience compelling, we went beyond static content and introduced storytelling and scenario-based learning. Characters like “Harry” were created to guide learners through a typical day in the parts department, bringing context and personality to what could otherwise feel like technical material.
We also incorporated subtle gamification elements to maintain motivation and encourage progression without compromising professionalism. Visual design was carefully aligned with Scania’s brand identity, ensuring consistency and familiarity, while professional voiceovers added clarity and engagement. Together, these elements transformed complex systems training into an experience that felt dynamic, relevant, and enjoyable for every participant.
The Result.
The program has transformed parts training at Scania UK, creating a consistent and engaging learning experience across the entire dealer network. Participation rates demonstrate strong adoption, with learners voluntarily progressing through multiple levels.
Beyond performance gains, the initiative has driven a cultural shift, training is no longer viewed as a tick-box exercise but as an essential tool for professional development.
Scania UK now stands out as the only Scania market in Europe with a dedicated parts training program, sparking interest from peers across the continent.
User Feedback
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with internal ratings averaging 4-5 stars and comments praising the clarity and practical value of the content. Branches report measurable operational improvements, including greater efficiency and fewer errors, while even experienced staff have discovered time-saving processes they “wish they’d known years ago.”
